Athens Americana 2012


Athens Americana is a four day music festival featuring Athens, Georgia's finest folk, country, bluegrass, blues, rock and 'everything in between' acts to be held from Wednesday April 27th-Sunday May 1st, 2011 @ Little Kings Shuffle Club, Hendershot's Coffee, and Flicker Theatre & Bar

Athens, Ga.— March 4, 2011— Local country folk songwriters Justin Evans and Adam Klein announce the fourth edition of Athens Americana, a celebration of local folk, country, and bluegrass music featuring Athens’ finest acts of the inclusive Americana genre to be held Wednesday, April 27th, through Saturday, April 30th, at Little Kings, with a closing party at Hendershot’s Coffee on Sunday, May 1st. Little Kings is located at 223 W. Hancock St. in downtown Athens. Hendershot’s is located at 1560 Oglethorpe Avenue in Athens.

The festival will kick-off with a special, free screening of Do It For Johnny, a documentary film produced by local guitar luthier, musician, and filmmaker Scott Baxendale. This will mark the award-winning film’s debut presentation in Athens.

Performers at this year’s festival include such celebrated acts as Hope For Agoldensummer, Little Country Giants, Corduroy Road, Dave Marr (ex-Star Room Boys), Redneck GReece, Curley Maple, Don Chambers & Goat, Matt Hudgins & His Shit-Hot Country Band, Big C & The Ringers, Dodd Ferrelle, Kaitlin Jones & the County Fair, Justin Evans, and Adam Klein. Athens scene veterans and brothers Kevin (ex-The Possibilities) and Matt (ex-Drive-By Truckers) Lane will perform a rare set as The Lanes, and Scott Baxendale’s new all-star Americana outfit, The Buzzards, featuring Clay Leverett and Bo Bedingfield, will also appear.

Among the new components to this year’s festival will be the opening night film screening, acoustic happy hour with live music and artisan market on Saturday afternoon, April 30th, and an extended bluegrass closing party at Hendershot's on Sunday, May 1st.
